Sponsored Brands – Custom Image Campaign

Sponsored Brands is an advertising method for brand registered Amazon accounts, such as yours. Sponsored Brands are Amazon ads that feature your brand logo, a custom headline, and up to three of your products. Sponsored Brands appear in search results to help drive discovery of your brand. A custom headline with custom messaging will help shoppers see your brand the way you want it to be seen. These Sponsored Brands ads will help your products be placed on the top of the search page. 

Our Method: 

With Sponsored Brands, we have a particular method in which we will set-up your campaign. 

  • We will add a custom logo to the advertisement for your brand.
  • We will use the new “Custom Image” cover, which takes up more real estate to your brand ad, especially on the Amazon mobile website.  Please see examples below. Brand Ads are a great low cost way to engage customers and increase sales.

  • Finally we will make the ads target relevant product areas such as:
    • Keywords
    • Product Category
    • Competitor ASINs
    • Allow amazon to show the most relevant products from your landing page in your ad.

Why Has My Amazon Guy not Already Done this?

  • In previous history, Brand Advertising has typically had a higher cost of advertising with somewhat disappointing results.
  • However, the Product Image has been a game changer. We have tested this method on several of our client accounts with great success, in the way of low cost clicks and conversions.

Standard Operating Procedure for Setting up Sponsored Brands Custom Images

  1. Go to Amazon Seller Central.
  2. Go to Campaign Manager 
  3. Click Create Campaign
  4. Select a Sponsored Brands Campaign
  5. Let’s start with a low budget. ($15 to start)
  6. If a company has more than 3 products, select the new product list page and add the top 5 selling products to the landing page. If a company has less than three products Select the Amazon Store Page. Target the Page which has the top selling product (if there are sub pages). 
  7. Add a Logo. 
  8. Add a Headline. (Make sure the headline is generic and catchy, not product oriented.)  For example, for Momstir I would use “Momstir Moments” as the headline title, with the image of women drinking. (See image below)


  1. Be sure to add a logo for the company (find assets in Google drive). 
  2. Check the custom image box. Be sure to add an image which is engaging. (Do not add a picture of a product bottle for example) Make sure it is a live human shot as shown above, good eye contact, something engaging and catchy. If you need help look to the listings, or email one of us to get assets from the client. 
  3. First make a category targeting/asin targeting campaign.
  4. Then make a basic keyword targeting campaign. 
  5. Have the bid set at $1.00 to start. 
  6. Click Submit for Review.

there's a new advertising form will be talking about. This is a good one. Toe watch. This is the My Amazon guy show. My name is Stephen Pope on the founder of my Amazon guy we're gonna be covering today, Um, a really awesome new ad format. Amazons been rolling out tons and tons of new advertising things. They're even gonna be shifting everybody onto a new U. I am platform here in the next week or so. Be on the lookout for all these changes. All right, So what I have here on screen, this is the new ad format on mobile phone and one of the things you can notice years how gigantic this image is. So, like, if you imagine this was your mobile phone right now and you saw this ad, it's very large. Takes a 60 70% plus of the screen. And to compare that against a regular sponsored brand ad, I'm showing on the screen here basically a chrome version of a mobile phone just because it makes it easy to showcase and and all those search bars making it kind of difficult to see up here on the top There I kind of want to get rid of that server. There we go. So, you see, this is what a regular search, um, sponsor brand looks like takes up like an inch of space. Kate. Now, again, compare that to this, which takes up almost the entire screen on a mobile phone. Very big game changer. I'm gonna show you today how to set this up. It's really important for a couple of reasons. Number one, this is I've never once seen ads this gigantic in the middle of search on Amazon, let alone any advertising platform. It is a gigantic area you can cover with your with your add an impression. So that's the first and most important thing. The second is nobody's using it right now. Which means if you use it, your costs are gonna be way low because it's in beta Amazon frequently roll out new bait of features without giving you a lot of heads up or announcements, especially Cove in 19 ongoing. Right now, in all the Corona situation, you're not going to see a lot of advertising and you y announcements come out of Amazon. But they're still rolling them out behind the scenes. All right. So we have created a step by step guide and all the information that you need. I'll link that in the description. I'm gonna go into that now. So basically, it's a sponsor brand advertising method, which most of you if you've got brand registry, you're probably familiar response for brands. I had not had a lot of success with regular sponsored brands because the cost was always too high and they were too high in the funnel. And that meant that you have to spend thousands of dollars on them to be effective in driving your marketing funnel to your product. So sponsored brands for me, for most of my clients have not been a focal point. We've always been sponsored product guys, and we've made a killing on that. But with this change, we create ah, custom advertisement loading a new image, and it's called a custom image, and I'll show you the step by step in actual seller Central here momentarily and it takes a baton or real estate. So So here's here's an example of a regular sponsor brand and it and it shows up like this. Okay, and then here is one with the gigantic photo and the sponsor brand. And again it's really gigantic and compares Legolas gigantic image man. It really makes me want to click on that steak shot because that barbecue sauce is looking a lot hotter versus just some regular product shots. So it's a pretty drastic change, so you can see again sponsor brand regular shot and then here sponsored brand on the Mobile taken up all that space, so all of the same best practices still apply your filling key words. You could do product category targeting competitors hastens, and you can dynamically optimize it by Amazon. And so the reasons why we haven't done this before in the past brand advertising has been too high in the funnel. High cost, High a cost. And this product image, though, is a major game changer. So we've begun rolling that out for our clients, and you should, too, if you're watching this video. So now here is the actual step by step guide, and again, this is gonna be a link in the description to my website, where you can grab this. You go to Amazon seller Central, go to the campaign manager and hit create campaign, so I'm now gonna pull up, Um, my own here. And this is the example one that we've already made and all the targeting translations, even even the head Spanish. That's really cool. It's going to go back to the campaigns, gonna hit, create campaign. So I'm gonna follow this guy, and you're gonna hit sponsored brands. Okay? It doesn't matter what your title. It doesn't matter what your budget is, Although I think you should put a lot of money in this right now. Okay. It doesn't matter if you use product collection or store spotlight. We prefer product collection. Choose your store from your drop down and choose what Page one Atlanta mon That's up to you, depending on how you built your brand store. And here is the new section right here. Custom image, beta. And so if you want to include a custom image, you have to add it and note that there's gonna be some sizing requirements. Can't have any individual product images, no logo, no texture. Graphics covering the primary image Dimensions have to be at least 1200 by 6 28 file size smaller than five megabytes and J peg or gift for P and G. I recommend that anything you're doing with Damaged on from now on, Zoey's and J Peg P and G's can't even load is a product shot anymore. So you might as well convert over to J. Peg. All right, so then it will show you the preview of what's loaded after you've loaded that image, and and then it's basically that's it. You submit it for review. Now, you can do all these extra things as well, right? You can add in, um, all the targeting, right. So you can hit in, Um, any of the regular t words you've done. So what's interesting is that typically speaking the bids on this, we're gonna be lower than your regular sponsor product advertising. This will not last. This is gonna be a temporary thing and tell everybody else and their dogs are starting to advertise with custom image. But if you look down the bid rates, I mean, look at look at this. You can get liquored to cancer for 20 cents, for example, and that would that's That's a very cheap keyword. Um, where it be, like, closer to a dollar. If you're doing sponsored products, so That's just a great case example. You can also target by products. We have many videos that talk about offensive and defensive product category targeting, and you can hit all these categories for all the products that you selling. You can search for products in coming here and type in a particular category and targeted you can. You can search for products individually like this and target these individual products when somebody is searching for those to show up as well. And then finally, after you've got all that, don't forget your negative product targeting your negative, um, targeting that you want to get in place and submit it for review. One of the big things that we've really been starting to do is also used fix bids, which is more of a sponsor product feature. But I do mention it here because it's something that a lot of people ah, don't do. And on a new campaign, you typically want to do fix bids. That's something we've kind of come to the realization after some testing in the last seven days, it helps get impressions on them, and then after the item and the the ad is live, you can then switch it over to dynamic up and down bidding again. That's primarily for sponsored products, however, not this particular standard operating procedure for headline ads or sponsored brands as they're now called.
